Proposed alternatives have been designed to address safety, traffic operations, travel time, congestion, and vehicle-train conflicts.

The Jal Clinic, City of Jal, Jal Police Department, City of Jal Fire/EMS, Jal Schools, and Woolworth Library are coordinating efforts to understand and monitor COVID-19 as it develops. These entities met two weeks ago and again on March 19, 2020 together to gather and share information at the local level. The web pages and Facebook pages for each of the above entities are being updated and available for local Jal residents to refer to for information about the COVID-19 virus.
Due to COVID-19, the City of Jal has made the decision to minimize its staff. Under the Governor’s directive, the City is applying social distancing procedures. State officials are encouraging everyone to do their part and practice these procedures. People, especially those who are sick are asked to stay home.
The City of Jal is taking special precautions at this time due to the Coronavirus COVID-19. The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 to be a “Public Health Emergency of International Concern” and categorized it as a pandemic.
Although much still isn’t known about the 2019 Coronavirus the CDC is able to use its knowledge based on similar coronaviruses they have dealt with in the past to keep the public informed and hopefully prepared.
The Jal Youth Advisory Council will be hosting a Clean Up Day on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 8 am - 12 pm. This event is a one-day, city-wide volunteer day. With your support and volunteers, this event is sure to make an impact on our "Small Town Big Heart" Community.

Notice of Possible Quorum of the Jal City Council Members of the Governing Body of the City of Jal will be sponsoring a public meeting to provide information and initial alternatives for improving the traffic flow thru Jal. Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting, provide input and feedback into alternatives development, and to ask questions.
